Art continues to weave the resilient human spirit across global cultures and communities, whether sparking in a first encounter or as a generational legacy. Concepts of collective story, placemaking, and foraging from the ashes lend to the process.
about the artist

The perpetually curious maker behind Cobralily.us is a certified Restoration Florida Master Naturalist, among a handful of other roles. Her lifelong self-guided quest for knowledge, a key theme across her own story, aligns with a passion for anchoring art, nature, and tradition to emerging technology. She enjoys revisiting her home state of Delaware (also a peninsula, just smaller than Florida) in moments and memories.
This project is an ongoing effort to increase resources for creative expression in rural and/or underserved areas. Grazie mille to the mentors who imparted skills and stories; the art communities that embraced a newcomer; and the supporters who continue to usher this vision into reality.
Offerings celebrate classic Wild Florida settings (such as the regions of Pierson, Astor, Seville, DeLeon Springs, DeLand, the beaches of Daytona and Ormond, and more.)
The Cobralily (Darlingtonia californica) is a fascinating symbol of specialized resilience and creative survival.
This remarkable plant is a carnivorous species. Its hooded snake-like anatomy facilitates the trapping of small prey, thus earning the moniker. Juxtaposed with this versatile survival mechanism is a symbiotic vulnerability layered deeper. A complex root system can withstand fire, yet each organ remains individually sensitive to shifts in temperature.
As Anais Nin wrote: “We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.”
Reminiscent of the struggle and strength to exist in our modern era, the cobralily calls upon us to consider facets of nature, nurture, and nuance within ourselves and each other.
